What we collect, and why
ABA Command Center collects personal information when you create an account, subscribe, contact us, or submit a correction. This page explains each category, its purpose, who processes it, and how long it is kept.
Overview
ABA Command Center is an independent publication for the Applied Behavior Analysis industry. It is not a therapy provider, and it is not a covered entity or business associate.
You can read the site without an account. Some features — signing in, subscribing to the digest, contacting us, submitting a correction, downloading gated resources — require personal information, and those are described below.
Account and profile data
When you sign in with a one-time email link or with Google, we store your email address and account identifier. Your profile can also hold a display name, an optional organization and role, and your beat and state preferences.
Purpose: authenticating you, applying editorial permissions, and remembering your preferences. Legal basis where applicable: performance of the service you requested and our legitimate interest in securing accounts.
Contact and correction submissions, including attachments
Contact messages and correction requests store what you type: your name and email if you provide them, the article or entry concerned, the issue category, and your message.
Correction attachments (images or PDFs you choose to upload) are stored in a private bucket and are reachable only through short-lived signed links issued to editorial staff. Please do not attach anything containing client, patient, or family information.
Purpose: responding to you and documenting why a published entry was changed.
Authenticated resource downloads
When a signed-in user downloads a gated resource, we record which account requested which file and when. Purpose: enforcing access to licensed material and understanding which resources are useful.
Security, audit, and rate-limit metadata
We keep operational security records: authentication events, editorial audit entries showing who created, approved, or corrected content, and rate-limit counters keyed to an account or a coarse request fingerprint such as an IP-derived value.
Purpose: preventing abuse, investigating incidents, and keeping the published record accountable. These records are not used for advertising or profiling.
No protected health information
We do not solicit, request, or knowingly store protected health information, and the site has no clinical, scheduling, or billing function. If a message or attachment sent to us contains PHI, we delete it rather than retain it and tell the sender.
Service providers
We rely on a small set of processors acting on our instructions: our managed application and database platform (authentication, storage, and the private attachment bucket), our transactional email provider for confirmations and digests, and our hosting and content delivery provider.
We do not sell personal information and we do not share it with data brokers or advertisers.
How long we keep it
Retention is described category by category on our data retention page. In short: account and subscriber records last while the account or subscription exists, submissions last while open and for a reasonable period after resolution, and the editorial audit record of published corrections is permanent.
Your rights and how to reach us
You can ask us to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and you can withdraw newsletter consent at any time. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to object to processing or to complain to a supervisory authority.
Use the contact form at /contact and we will confirm your request and act on it, except where a record must be kept to document a published correction or to meet a legal obligation.
Separate from Blossom Children's Center
ABA Command Center is an independent publication. Corey Mack's role at Blossom Children's Center is disclosed on our disclosure page, but Blossom is a separate organization: it does not receive data collected here, and any consent you give Blossom for its own services is separate from and unaffected by this notice.
Third-party links
We link to government, regulatory, association, and payer websites, and to LinkedIn. Those organizations have their own privacy practices, which we do not control.
This notice describes current practice. If we add analytics, advertising, or a new processor, we will update this page before the change takes effect.
